As the name implies, “Lake Forest” has many lakes and forests. Well, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it does have a couple of Lake and many, many trees. In fact, that was just what the builders had in mind when they designed this beautiful city. They wanted to give Lake Forest a mountain-like setting, so they put in 2 man-made lakes and lined the streets with beautiful towering eucalyptus trees. Streams meander behind some of the neighborhoods here, and many homes and condominiums sit on the shoreline of the lakes, which offer kayaking, and Tennis and Sail Club, swimming pools, barbeque pits and so much more. As you might imagine, the lakes are one of the most popular destinations in Lake Forest.
Being a history fanatic, there are two attractions that I absolutely love- the Heritage Hill Historical Park and “Arden”, the Helena Modjeska Historic House and Gardens. Helena was one of the world’s greatest actresses, and she resided here in the early twentieth century. It is a great way to spend an afternoon even if history isn’t your thing, as the grounds have an amazing garden that you can walk through and take in its beauty.
There are a large variety of homes here- old and new, small and large, modest and over-the-top which makes Lake Forest a very unique and interesting town. Of course, it sits in a very convenient location. Freeway close, with lots of things to do nearby and easy access to just about everything imaginable.
