Huntington Beach

This coastal jewel and popular vacation spot has always held a special place in my heart. It is a surfing mecca both historically and currently. Whether it’s the annual U.S. Open, the well-known iconic residents or even the surf shops that line Main Street here, Huntington Beach remains one of the most frequented destinations for surfers of all levels. The surfing here is about as good as it gets, which is one of the reasons the Open is held here.

I love the accessibility here, as the coastline is flat, stretches for miles and miles, and is a great place to take a long, leisurely walk by the water’s edge.

The downtown area went through a complete renovation in the not-too-distant past, and this “face-lift” brought in a lot of new residents as well as tourists. The pier has been built up too, and has a Ruby’s Restaurant at the very end, that is almost impossible to get a table at during the mid-summer months.

Don’t limit yourself to just the beach area, however. Huntington Beach is an extremely large city and offers almost limitless things to do and places to go. There are equestrian centers, sports parks, golf courses, nature centers, dog parks…I could go on and on. It is actually the largest beach city in Orange County. Don’t let that scare you away though. There is plenty of open space and it is definitely not overcrowded.

Huntington Beach borders some of Orange County’s most popular cities as well. It sits between Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Seal Beach, so you can get to so many other points of interest that are nearby in just a matter of minutes.

Orange County, California coastal community.
