Nested between San Clemente and Dana Point is the relatively small, yet beautiful beach community of Capistrano Beach. The beach here is absolutely pristine. It remains one of the most popular beaches in the area despite its size. One of the reasons is the parking lot. I’m sure you’re asking yourself, “what is so great about a parking lot?!” Well, it sits right on the sand just steps from the ocean, and they allow motorhomes to spend the day there. Imagine making this one of your family vacation stops as you take in all of the sites while having your “hub” just a few feet from the sand and sea.
Now, if you’re like me and you prefer the comfort of a soft warm bed and a hot shower, right across the street there are a couple of quaint hotels that offer ocean view rooms for a fraction of what you might pay in some of the more popular, well-known spots such as Laguna Beach. It’s a 2-minute stroll from your room to the sand, and there are a couple of really fun restaurants there, so you can enjoy a yummy meal or a happy hour while watching the sunset. That’s where you’ll most likely find me!
Virtually the entire community of Capistrano Beach sits above the beach atop of a hundred-foot cliff. The homes here range from cute little cottages to multi-million dollar mansions. I actually love driving through the neighborhoods (even when I’m not working!) looking at the homes here, as they are mostly custom homes, and are very unique.
If you ever want to have a picnic in a relative private setting, while still enjoying an ocean view (not to mention an ocean breeze!), then you must go to one of my favorite spots in all of Capo Beach; Pines Park. It sits right on top of the cliff that overlooks the beach, and has some of the best views while it stays pretty quiet in spite of its obvious charms. On the 4th of July, it remains one of the most popular spots to watch the many fireworks displays that are visible from this one-of-a-kind beauty.
