If I had to choose one word to define Irvine, I think it would be “pristine”. There are older and newer communities and neighborhoods here, but they all have that common denominator. Whenever I drive through Irvine, I always get a strong sense of “ownership pride” here, which I believe to be one of the reasons that Irvine has long been and remains to be one of the most desirable cities in Orange County. Come to think of it, it is one of the most desirable cities in California!

One of my favorite destinations there are the lakes. There are 2 small lakes in the Woodbridge community there, and are lined with beautiful homes, parks, greenbelts and a few eateries as well. It’s the perfect location for me to get in a game of tennis every now and then because it is just so peaceful and beautiful to take in. There are plenty of pathways that weave in and through the parks there, so it’s perfect way for me to burn some calories I may have encountered while eating out there.

If you have young children, you may want to make a point of seeing the 4th of July fireworks show from the lake vantage point. It’s been a few years since I’ve done it, but it is something I will not soon forget.

UCI, being one of the best universities around makes this city just about perfect in my eyes.
